Helen Curran had the typical 3-week laetrile therapy that used laetrile, megavitamin C, and other nutritional supplements, and then followed by an almost vegetarian diet with much raw fruits and vegetables, plus the nutritional supplements, until the cancer was completely under control.
Following is the post laetrile therapy diet and supplements copied from the book "Apricot Power: How Laetrile Cured My Cancer" by Helen Curran, pp 75 – 78, 2nd printing, 1994, Helen M. Curran Publisher, Laguna Hills, California. (This book is almost a short love story with inspiration beautifully written than a story about deadly cancer. It is highly recommended for cancer patients to have and keep)
Here is the routine I followed for the next year and a half until liver scans and blood tests showed that the tumors on my liver were gone. Immediately on waking I put a glass of freshly squeezed apple juice in the blender with two tablespoons of soy protein powder and a tablespoon of crystal Vitamin C containing three grams of Vitamin C. We bought a Champion Juicer, one of the recommended juicers, and Clyde watched the produce ads at grocery stores for the best buys in fruits and vegetables. These were organic when we could locate them. It was he who made the juice for me. You really need a dedicated partner with this therapy.
With the drink I took a capsule of Vitamin E (500 I.U.), and another of lecithin, a potent multi-vitamin tablet, Vitamin B6, and a tablet containing iron, iodine, and herbs. After about an hour I had breakfast. This was usually a dish of cereal, sometimes oats, millet, or 7-grain cereal, with a cut-up banana and various kinds of seeds (chia or sesame, for instance) on it. Raisins and nuts could be added, and in place of milk, I poured on more apple juice. You have never tasted apple juice if all you have had is the anemic, pasteurized product sold in supermarkets, with all its enzymes dead. Freshly squeezed organic apple juice is ambrosia of the gods. In place of sugar I shook on cinnamon. Another piece of fruit, depending on the season, and more raw, unsalted nuts, usually almonds or cashews, rounded out the meal. I took another handful of supplements with more fruit juice. These consisted of amino acids, a complete Vitamin B, four grams of Vitamin C (time release to avoid diarrhea), digestive enzymes, a digestive aid containing hydrochloric acid and additional enzymes, a mineral supplement, dry raw pancreas tissue plus enzymes, adrenal and spleen tissue, and manganese. I took these two at a time so it took a while at each meal to swallow them. With slight changes (as, for instance, thymus was later added to my morning and evening supplements) these were the capsules and tablets I took after meals three times a day.
When the cancer was in complete remission, the doctor adjusted the dosage so that I took the important ones every day and the other ones every other day. "Most important" would always include Vitamin C, which inhibits the growth of cancer, digestive enzymes, hydrochloric acid, dried pancreas to aid my impaired digestive function, Vitamin E, which among other wonderful things stopped my hot flashes (why didn’t the allopathic doctors give me this instead of estrogen?), adrenal for the immune system, and Vitamin B6 to ensure that fifteen grams of Vitamin C a day would not put me in danger of forming kidney stones.
Many of the supplements I took had a combination of nutrients in them, and when I added up the Vitamin A that I ingested daily, my usual dose amounted to about 150,000 I.U. Later I took much larger amounts, about 250,000 I.U. daily because half of this was in emulsified form, which bypass the liver and cannot harm it. Vitamin A is very important in the treatment of cancer. All of our skin cells need substantial amounts of Vitamin A if they are to be healthy. It is not possible to present a schedule of supplements that would fit every cancer patient. This must be prescribed for each case. For instance, the hair test showed that my manganese level was low. Another patient’s hair test might disclose other deficiencies.
After breakfast it was time for my enema. There are varied instructions on how to prepare these. I was told to boil two tablespoons of ground coffee (never instant) in two cups of distilled water for five minutes. This was put through a sieve and added to two more cups of distilled water (cool) in the enema bag, and when the temperature was comfortable, I would hold this for five minutes. Most days I had no difficulty holding it, but unaccountably on others it wasn’t so easy. It was always a pleasure to take a coffee enema, funny as that may sound to the uninitiated, because I felt so refreshed afterwards. Although the purpose of the coffee enema was not to produce a bowel movement, it usually it, and this was fine side effect. Cancer patient are often constipated.
