    Gayle Cranford (breast cancer)

  • July, 1984, first diagnosed breast cancer, mastectomy and chemotherapy after diagnosis.
  • January, 1985, discontinued chemotherapy, started nutritional therapy consisted of detoxification with daily coffee enemas, an almost vegetarian diet, jucing of carrots every day, and taking several supplements designed to support immune system. This regimen was followed faithfully for at least the next 3 years.
  • Summer, 1985, started Livingston therapy including an autogenous vaccine, other injectables, intravenous vitamins, and other supplements.
  • September, 2001, living actively, writing a simple health newsletter for a small local health food store, continuing helping people with phone calls, speaking to a few small groups, writing several published magazine and newspaper "to the editor" letters (was featured in a local newspaper article) and planning to attend the fourth session of the Comprehensive Cancer Care conference in Washington, DC.

    Ruben Dreher (malignant lymphomas, passed away on 4/14/01 from heart attack)

  • Fall 1977, first diagnosed lymphomas stage 4 spread to pancreas, liver, spleen, sinus and bones.
  • 1977 to 1978, two treatments of chemotherapy, feeling very depressed after the treatments.
  • 1978, not only abandoned by conventional therapies, but also considered hopeless by alternative therapies, nevertheless, two weeks of laetrile treatment was done in Mexico.
  • 1978 to 1979, learned to prepare juices and diet at Gerson Institute in Mexico, but not treated.
  • 1979 to 1980, self treatment using Gerson therapy for 6 months, taking laetrile tablets and other nutritional supplements simulataneously.
  • 1980 to 1981, self treatment using Wheatgrass therapy, regularly taking herbs for internal detoxification, showed some improvements.
  • 1982, treated by a nutritional specialist using Kelley therapy, feeling stronger after 5 weeks of treatment, continuing Kelley therapy until body chemistry returned to normal conditions.
  • 1983 to April 2001, Maintaining truly nutritional diets and supplements, the diet consisted of lots of baked potatoes, carrots, beets, parsley, homemade soup mostly onion, parsley, garlic, multi-grain cereal, raw fruits from own gardens, sesame and sunflower seeds, at least 10 apricot kernels daily, and the so-called "catalyzing" Willard water.

    Christina Hurley (non-Hodgkins lymphoma)

  • Fall 1991, first diagnosed non-Hodgkins lymphoma from the left armpit and neck to the right.
  • Winter, 1991 to early 1992, Five months on vegetarian and raw juice diet, lumps under right arm continued to grow.
  • February, 1992, Hoxsey therapy in Mexico.
  • July, 1992, found Hoxsey therapy not responding.
  • September, 1992 to June, 1993, several courses of chemotherapy, not responding.
  • Fall, 1993, Donsbach's holistic therapy protocols, including DMSO, H2O2, ozone, and vitamins, in Mexico, responding to the therapy.
  • Winter, 1993 to present (September, 2001), regular checkup every 3 to 6 months, using L.D.H. as the marker, no long-term diet but taking supplements, cancer controlled, leading an active life.

    Bill Sykes (lymphocytic leukemia)

  • Winter, 1975, first diagnosed lymphocytic leukemia with enlarged spleen, metastasized throughout the body, stage IV.
  • 3/24/76, surgery to remove cancerous spleen, cancer not controlled.
  • After above surgery in 1976, laetrile therapy for about one week, then treated with chemotherapy; chemotherapy was interrupted because patient could not tolerate, laetrile therapy was resumed.
  • Three months after laetrile therapy, felt well enough to join in a game of racquet ball.
  • From 1977 to 1990, faithfully stayed on the diet that emphasized fresh fruits, vegetables, and foods rich in nitrilosides; bleached flour and refined sugar were forbidden.

  • February, 1994, baby age 2 1/2, first diagnosed medulloblastoma brain tumor, stage 5, surgery removing 75% of the tumor.
  • April, 1994, rejected radiation and chemotherapy, started antineoplaston therapy under Dr. Burzynski.
  • June, 1994, brain tumor gone after 6 weeks of antineoplaston therapy.
  • April, 1995, recurring brain tumor, 1 x 1 inch size, used more concentrated and higher dose of antineoplastons.
  • September, 1995, brain tumor size reduced by 95%, continued treatment for 2 years, and then put on a capsule formula of antineoplastons for 1 1/2 years.
  • October, 2001, boy age 10 now, free of cancer, living a normal life.

    Rose Richmond (ovarian cancer)

    2005 Update: Rose Richmond, now at the age of 81, is still free of cancer, living in Lakeland, Florida, as of March 3, 2005, and helping cancer patients who call her for guidance.

  • 1979, first diagnosed ovarian cancer, metastasized to liver, 4 cobalt treatments, discontinued because the radiation treatment made her very sick.
  • 1979 to 1980, After terminating the radiation therapy, treated at Hoxsey clinic in Tijuana, cancer disappeared after Hoxsey therapy.
  • There has been no additional medical record on cancer since the cancer disappeared after Hoxsey therapy in 1980.
  • 1980 to Oct, 2001, has no recurrence of cancer since after the Hoxsey therapy; did not take any additional Hoxsey tonic, but eating only "live" foods that have not been refined, especially refined sugar; leads a cancer-free life today.

    Russel Young (myosarcoma)

  • 1983, surgery after diagnosis, no chemotherapy, went on a vitamin regimen.
  • 1985, cancer recurred, more surgery but no chemotherapy.
  • 1986, Hoxsey therapy, taking Hoxsey tonic 4 times a day, (and still does today, the tonic is supposed to build a good immune system).
  • 1986 to present (Oct, 2001), no recurrence of cancer, went to Hoxsey clinic in Tijuana once a year to get Hoxsey tonic for maintenance. Records of annual blood and urine analysis are available, and may be posted here in near future for reference.

  • July, 1982 to 1984, continue Gerson therapy for 20 months from July, 1982.

    Helen Curran (malignant melanoma)

  • January, 1978, first diagnosed malignant melanoma, metastasized to liver. Although the mole was removed surgically, doctor believed that the case was terminal and expected to live 2 to 3 months.
  • March, 1978, started laetrile therapy in Tijuana that included IV drips of 25 grams of laetrile, 100 grams of vitamin C, and some vitamin B daily for about 3 weeks.
  • May, 1978 to present, December, 2001, alive and free of cancer 23 years after the laetrile therapy. Presently the president of a club in Leisure World, bringing speakers such as Donsbach, Gerson, Culbert, Contreras, Alvarez and many other alternative cancer pioneers.

    Margaret Griffin (lymphosarcoma)

  • November, 1966, first diagnosed lymphosarcoma, followed by 30 treatments of cobalt radiation, was given a year to live. Took Hoxsey tonic from a doctor who worked at Hoxsey clinic in Texas before the clinic was driven to Tijuana. Ten months after taking the Hoxsey tonic, X-ray showed that the 2 tumors around the aorta had disappeared.
  • After disappearance of tumor, continue taking Hoxsey tonic for 8 years and then intermittently since, also followed prescribed Hoxsey diet.
  • to date, 2000, at the age of 79, Thirty four years after the ocurrence of cancer, is still living free of cancer.

    Gwen Scott (breast cancer)

  • Some time in 1993, first felt a lump on the breast, but negative biopsy. Eight months later, diagnosed to have a deadly breast cancer with lymph involvement.
  • August, 1994, surgery of lumpectomy and mastectomy, followed by Tamoxifen, expected by the doctor to have only one year to live.
  • After the surgery in 1994, contacted Hoxsey clinic in Tijuana and started Hoxsey therapy.

  • Drank green juice consisting of spinach, parsley, celery; also drank wheat grass juice, and eat a lot of greens, such as spinach, broccoli, etc. No junk food. Prayed a lot.
  • 1995 to date, Jan of 2002, living healthily free of cancer.

  • Nov 1989, At age 60, first discovered non-small lung cancer, had open chest surgery; lost most of right lung, but cancer had spread, and the surgery couldn't get it all; received extensive radiation but no chemo.
  • May 1991, cancer recurred; very weak and thin, refused all conventional treatments, started on Gerson therapy; followed Gerson protocol carefully, and soon started gaining weight and strength. Stayed on Gerson for about 2 years.
  • 1993 to present, Feb 2002, very active, healthy, and cancer-free; traveling the U.S.A. full time in an RV to enjoy life.
  • After the Gerson formal treatment in 1993, followed a vegan diet, mostly organic raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and grains; a couple of fresh vegetable juices daily, used only distilled water, avoid sugar, white flour in all forms.

    Ann Fonfa (recurring breast cancer)

  • Jan 1993, first diagnosed stage I breast cancer, had a lumpectomy and was given an axillary node dissection wiithout "informed" consent, refused radiation and chemo.
  • 1993 to 1999, developed 25 tumors over time in left breast (3 lumpectomies) and on the chest wall after a mastectomy. Only surgery, no radiation and chemo.
  • May 1999, MRI of the chest wall showed a total of 3.5 cm invasive lobular carcinoma, treated with Chinese herbs.
  • Sept 2001, MRI showed no cancer on chest wall.
  • Feb 2002, Active in promoting the rights of cancer patients to choose the best treatment, including alternative therapies not yet recognized by the orthodox medical authority.

    Allan Larson (recurring osteo sarcoma)

  • 1976, discovered osteo sarcoma, no metastasis, treated with chemo and bone transplant, annual bone scan to monitor thereafter.
  • 1993, cancer recurred, amputation to treat the recurrence.
  • February, 2002, no recurrence since amputation, no other treatment, no special diet or nutritional supplements since amputation.

    Julia Hollister (cancer of the pancreas)

  • 1976, submitted to hysterectomy, was told to have 12 or 13 precancerous spots, eyesight deteriorated. Supplemented with approximately 25,000 IU of vitamin A and 100 IU of vitamin E, eyesight recovered to normal.
  • 1987, first half of the year, ascites in abdomen appeared, but was controlled by a tablespoon of brewer's yeast 3 times daily. However, the ascites moved to the lung, and adenocarcinoma was found in the fluid withdrawn from the lung. The doctor determined that the head of the pancreas was growing rapidly and only 3 weeks to live.
  • 1987, second half of the year, started making fresh juices and drinking about 11 oz three times daily of fresh juice made from carrot, apple, celery, cucumber, greens of kale, swisschard, turnip, etc. The diet included brown rice as cereal in breakfast, cooked food for lunch, and raw food for dinner.
  • 1993, cancer recurred, amputation to treat the recurrence.
  • February, 2002, no recurrence since amputation, no other treatment, no special diet or nutritional supplements since amputation.

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Please email pinacua@aol.com and try to answers as much as possible the following questions.

  • (1) when was your cancer first diagnosed? what type of cancer?
  • (2) was there metastasis? if yes, where?
  • (3) what was the treatment after diagnosis? when? at where? by whom?
  • (4) what cancer marker and/or lab test (including CT scan) did you use to monitor the treatment progress?
  • (5) what were the values of the marker before and after the treatment?
  • (6) did you continue to monitor the marker after the treatment? if yes, show the records of marker value versus time.
  • (7) did cancer recur after the treatment since then until now?
  • (8 ) if no recurrence, do you have any test showing you are now cancer-free?
  • (9) if there was recurrence, repeat questions 3 to 8.
  • (10) what kind of diet did you have before the first diagnosis of cancer? during each of the treatments, and after the last treatment?
  • (11) what nutritional supplements did your take during and after the treatments? for how long?
