The following pages are translated from the Chinese book

by a medical graduate in her internship in China. This translation is made for the purpose of showing the western readers who are not familiar with Traditional Chinese Medicine （TCM）that (1) TCM is the main stream in China in treating and curing cancer, aided by the western conventional surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, and (2) as much as possible the effectiveness of the treatment in the actual clinical setting. The information is only for reference and illustration purpose and should not be used to treat cancer by laymen. It must be noted that many of the Chinese books in health care such as this one are edited by a staff of health care professionals, sometimes as many as 10 or more, the accuracy and accountability of the content in the books are not as high as those published in US which are usually written by a single author only. It is with this limitation that the translation is presented to give a bird’s eye view of the overall situation.

Each of the cancer types presented in the original book includes (1) principal herbal formulation or composition (2) modification of the principal herbal formulation for other diseases that occur simultaneously (3) preparation of the decoction（4）curative effect of the treatment. Only some selected principal herbal formulations and the curative effects in the book are presented here. Those who are interested in obtaining more information in the book may inquire through the email address mculbertresearch@yahoo.com

Normally the herbal formulation for a patient is slightly changed every 2 to 3 days to follow up the effect of the previous formulation, usually some previous herbs may be subtracted (discontinuous) and some other herbs may be added in the formulation to be decocted next. Every patient’s treatment is individualized which is an advantage to patient’s recovery but a disadvantage to the documentation of the case history that can become too cumbersome, sometimes more than a hundred formulations in the course of the treatment.

Chapter 1 Head and neck cancer

1. tumor of cerebellopontile angle

Formula 1

Composition: Radix Astragali 40g,Radix Angelicae Sinensis 、Hedyotic diffusa、Spica Prunellae、Radix Puerariae 30g each，Radix Paeoniae Rubra、Raidix Paeoniae Alba 15g each，Semen Persicae、Rhizoma Chuanxiong、lumbricus、Rhizoma Gastrodiae 12g each，Radix Salviae Miltiorrhiae 25g ，Arisaema Cum Bile、Radix Glycytthizae 10g each。

Curative effect: as is reported, this formula has taken on an excellent effect in treating tumor of cerebellopontile angle. The patient is 39 years old, male. Came to the out-patient on 18^th Jul. 1985, with dizziness, tinnitus, nausea, vomiting for one month, 7 weeks’s drug taken showed no sign of relief, while accompanied by sudden severe headache, facial distortion as well as numbness in left limbs and facial area. CT scan showed the tumor of cerebellopontile angle. Syndrome differentiation identifies as qi-blood dual insufficiency, stagnant blood with phlegm. After taking 40 of this formulation daily with adjustment, signs of relief appeared and he could generally manage basic living himself, the treatment was then followed by nourishing liver and kidney to solidify the effect. Followed up a year later, he was in a stable condition and there was no recurrence of his disease. CT scanning on the 27^th Jun.1986 showed the tumor shadow had been reduced to half of its original size.

Formula 2

Composition: seven star pellet。

(seven star pellet was made up of Hedyotic diffusa、Rhizoma Sparganii 16g each，Herba Scutellariae Darbatae、Thallus Laminariae 30g each，Fructus Akebiae 20g， Spica Prunellae，Tribulus terrestris，Rhizoma Curcumae 12g each，radix bupleuri，Squama Manitis preparata，Rhizoma Alismatis，radix scutellariae，Scorpio 10g each, Scolopendra 5g, Polyporus 45g )

Curative effect: 138 cases of malignant tumor in the terminal stage(including cerebroma ,cancer of liver, lung ,stomach and pancreas ) had been treated with seven star pellet, 2 treatment courses were involved with 3 years follow up, totally cured 44 cases , totally relieved 51 cases, partially relieved 22 cases , stabilized the condition in 19 cases and totally failed in 2 cases.

2. Recurred carcinoma of head and neck

Formula

Composition: Radix Codonopsis、gyrophora、Poria、Rhizoma Dioscoreae、Semen Coicis、Radix Acanthopanacis Senticosi、Radix Salviae Miltiorrhiae 30g each，Radix Astragali 60g ，Radix Rehmanniae 20g，Radix Angelicae Sinensis 15g.

Curative effect: the combination of TCM with electro-chemotherpy treating recurred cancer of head and neck (including malignant lymphoma of neck, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, carcinoma of maxillary sinus, carcinoma of tongue, carcinoma of soft palate, carcinoma of parotid, carcinoma of submandibular gland, carcinoma of gingival and metastatic carcinoma) had been adopted in 20 cases, among which 2 got total relief, 11 were partially relieved ,while no changes in 3 cases and 3 failed. 13 cases survived 3-18 months. 4 cases took on the adverse reaction. 3. Tumor of intracalvarium

Formula 1

Composition: Flos Lonicerae、Fructus Forsythiae、Herba Taraxaci、Herba Violae、Spica Prunellae、Herba Scutellariae Darbatae、Hedyotic diffusa、Concha Arcae、Hirudo、Concha Ostreae 15g each，Rhizoma Sparganii、Rhizoma Curcumae 12g each，Fructrs Trichosanthis、phlopopitum 20g each，3 Scolopendra ，Polyporus 40g.

Curative effect: this formula is used in treating 36 cases of intracalvarium tumor (including glioma, tumor of pituitary, myeloblastoma, chromatophoroma, craniopharyngioma, menigoma, pon-cerebelloarachnoid cyst, tumor of sphenoidal sinus, metastatic tumor), of which 9 were completely cured, 15 showed effective changes, 11 were stabilized while 1 showed no effect after a treating period of 3-6 months. The total effective rate reaches 97%, without any adverse reaction during the treatment.

Formula 2

Composition: Bombyx Batryticatus、Arisaema Cum Bile 9g each，Scorpio、Radix Angelicae Dahuricae 6g each，3 Scolopendra，Rhizoma Polygonati、Concha Haliotidis（decocted beforehand）、Herba Cirsii Japonici 30g eahc，Spica Prunellae 15g，Semen Plantaginis 60g，Rhizoma Gastrodiae、Fructus Viticis 12g each.

Curative effect: as was reported, treating 30 cases of intracalvarium tumor, 5 proved to be with obvious improvement (tumor size reduced, symptoms disappeared; with 5 years follow up , showed no recurrence), 24 cases improved while 1 failed, total effective rate reaches 97%.

4. Blepharocarcinoma

Formula 1

Composition: Hedyotic diffusa、Herba Scutellariae Darbatae、Herba Lobeliae Chinensis、Herba Agrimoniae、dahurian patrinia herb、Herba Taraxaci 60g each，scandent schefflera root、Flos Lonicerae 45g each，solani lyratii、Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis、Raidix Scrophulariae、Radix Glycytthizae 30g each.

Curative effect: having treated 13 cases of eyelid plate adenoma all got cured after taking the herbal formulation for 3-5 treatment courses. With a follow up of 5-10 years, no recurrence was found. As was proven by modern pharmacological researches, this formula has certain effects in inhibiting the experimental tumor.

Formula 2

Composition: Rhizoma Sparganii、Rhizoma Curcumae、Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis、Rhizoma Paridis、RHIZOMA COPTIDIS from Sichuan of China、Radix Codonopsis、raw Radix Astragali、Caulis Lonicerae、Flos Chrysanthemi Indici、thallus sargassi 100g each，Herba Scutellariae Darbatae、Solanum nigrum 200g each，Semen Strychni preparata、Squama Manitis、Scolopendra preparata、Radix Arnebiae、prepared radixet rhizome rhei 50g each, Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis、Tulipa edulis 70g each.

Curative effect: 6 patients with blepharocarcinoma had taken this formulation, after 2-3 treatment courses, all got cured. In the follow up of 6-11years, no recurrence was found.

Formula 3

Composition: Hedyotic diffusa、Herba Scutellariae Darbatae、Herba Lobeliae Chinensis、Herba Agrimoniae 90g each，scandent schefflera root、radix actinidiae 45g each, solani lyratii、Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis、Raidix Scrophulariae 30g each.

Curative effect: this formula was applied in two cases of eyelid plate carcinoma, both got cured. A follow up of 2-8 years showed no recurrence.

5. carcinoma of parotid gland

Formula 1

Composition: Chinese sage、Spica Prunellae、Semen Vaccariae、raw Concha Ostreae、raw Carapax Trionycis、Radix Trichosanthis 、Herba Taraxaci、Solanum nigrum 30g each，Sargassum、Thallus Laminariae、Radix Salviae Miltiorrhiae、Fructrs Trichosanthis kernel、Radix Stemonae、Radix Isatidis 15g each，Flos Carthami、Semen Persicae、raw Radix Rehmanniae、honeycomb of paper wasps、Radix Sophorae Flavescentis 10g each.

Curative effect: the above drug has been adopted treating 18 cases, after taken this for 5-8 months, 10 were cured, 3 showed obvious improvements while 5 failed. Among those who got cured, a follow-up of 5-10 years showed no recurrence.

Formula 2

Composition: Herba Taraxaci、Radix Isatidis、dahurian patrinia herb、Hedyotic diffusa 40g each，Sargassum、Thallus Laminariae、Radix Salviae Miltiorrhiae、Squama Manitis 20g each，Radix Stemonae、Poria、raw Radix Rehmanniae、Fructrs Trichosanthis kernel、Fructrs Liquidambaris 15g each，rhizoma coptidis from Sichuan of China、radix scutellariae、Raidix Scrophulariae、root of straight ladybell 10g each.

Curative effect: 6 patients with parotid carcinoma had been treated with this formula, after 3-6 treatment courses, a follow-up of 5-10 years showed stable conditions of the patients and obvious reduction of the tumors.

6. carcinoma of maxillary sinus

Formula 1

Composition: Hedyotic diffusa、Chinese sage、Herba Scutellariae Darbatae、radix scutellariae、raw Radix Rehmanniae、Raidix Scrophulariae、raw Concha Ostreae 30g each，root of straight ladybell、Herba Taraxaci、flos chrysanthemi from Hangzhou of China、Radix et Rhizoma Rhei from Sichuan of China 10g each, Herba Menthae 5g .

Curative effect: 2 patients with maxillary sinus carcinoma had been treated using this formula (of which one had palliative operation of squamous cell carcinoma), both got cured. A follow-up of 5-6 years demonstrated no recurrence.

Formula 2

Composition: Hedyotic diffusa、Herba Lobeliae Chinensis、Herba Scutellariae Darbatae、RHIZOMA COPTIDIS from Sichuan of China、raw Radix Rehmanniae、Chinese sage、Caulis Lonicerae、raw Concha Ostreae 30g each，Flos Chrysanthemi Indici、solani lyratii herba 20g each，root of straight ladybell、Raidix Scrophulariae 15g each.

Curative effect: 5 cases of maxillary sinus carcinoma had used this formulation for treatment. After 4-6 courses, all got cured. Follow-ups of 5、7、8、10、12years separately all showed no recurrence ,what’s more, patients all performed well in their daily routine work.

Formula 3

Composition: Rhizoma Paridis、Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis、Hedyotic diffusa、Solanum nigrum 30g each，Radix Paeoniae Rubra、Rhizoma Chuanxiong、Semen Persicae、Radix Angelicae Sinensis 10g each，Flos Carthami、Rhizoma Curcumae、Radix Angelicae Dahuricae 12g each，6 Fructrs Jujubae.

Curative effect: 4 patients of maxillary sinus carcinoma had used this formulation for treatment. After 3-5 courses, all got cured. A follow-up of 5 years showed no recurrence.

7. carcinoma of nasopharynx

Formula 1

Composition: recipe 1：raw Radix Rehmanniae、Raidix Ophiopogonis、coastal glehnia root、Raidix Scrophulariae、Radix Trichosanthis、Flos Lonicerae、Flos Chrysanthemi Indici、Herba Menthae、Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis；recipe 2：Radix Pseudostellariae、Radix Codonopsis、whole Fructrs Trichosanthis、Semen Coicis、fructus amomi rotundus、radix scutellariae、Poria、eupatorii herba、Radix Sophorae Flavescentis、Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae、Caulis Bambusae in Taeniam .

Curative effect: treating 57 cases of nasopharynx carcinoma with the combination of TCM with radiotherapy, 44 got cured (with total disappearance of both primary and metastatic loci), 12 showed improvements, while 1 failed. The total effective rate reaches 98%. TCM can reduce the adverse reaction caused by radiotherapy, especially in improving the oral mucosa condition and GI symptoms.

Formula 2

Composition: raw Radix Rehmanniae、Raidix Scrophulariae、Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis、Fructus Arctii、semiaquilegiae radix、Tulipa edulis、etc.

Curative effect: 8 cases of nasopharynx carcinoma and cervical lymphsarcoma had been treated with this formulation, all got cured clinically. They survived for 3-27 years respectively.

Formula 3

Composition: Raidix Scrophulariae、raw Radix Rehmanniae、radix scutellariae、Flos Chrysanthemi Indici、Hedyotic diffusa、Flos Lonicerae、Rhizoma Chuanxiong、Radix Trichosanthis、root of straight ladybell、Radix Astragali、Radix Glycytthizae、Raidix Ophiopogonis.

Curative effect: using a TCM drink named Qingreshengjinyin (meaning clearing heat and promoting fluid production) combined with radiotherapy to treat 162 cases of nasopharynx carcinoma , a follow-up of 112 patients shows the survivor after 1 year, 3years and 5 years are 102, 85 and 76 respectively, 29 got recurrence. The median recurrent time is 15.8 months. (translator note: there was inconsistency in the report of the numbers).

Formula 4

Composition: Radix Angelicae Sinensis、Raidix Scrophulariae、Raidix Ophiopogonis、raw Radix Rehmanniae 15g each，Rhizoma Chuanxiong、Semen Persicae、Flos Carthami、Panax quinquefolium L 10g each，raw Radix Astragali、Fructus Lycii 20g each，Herba Dendrobii 12g.

Curative effect: 179 cases of nasopharynx carcinoma accepted the above therapy (among which 88 belonged to the treated group and 91 were in the control group). 72 and 64 cases got total relieved in the two groups separately; partial relief number was 8 and 7; failed in 7 and 14, 1 and 6 deteriorated respectively in the two groups. The total effective rate is 91% and 78%. The treated group had an obvious advantage over the control group (p<0.05) and the former also performed better in the affecting the leukocyte, immune function and in oral cavity adverse reactions (p<0.01,p<0.05).

Formula 5

Composition: Fuchun pills

note：Fuchun pills (composed of ibanus 9g，myrrh 8g，Radix Curcumae 10g，Radix Salviae Miltiorrhiae 12g，Rhizoma Chuanxiong 6g ect. produced by NO.4 Tianjin TCM pharmaceutical factory); the control group used placebo (pure starch).

Curative effect: treated the two groups with 30 cases each of nasopharynx carcinoma, the surviving rate of 1 year ,3years and 5 years were (treated group vs control group) 83% vs 80%; 53% vs 63%; 30% vs 47%; the rates of blood metastasis within 5 years were 37% and 10% respectively (p<0.05).

8. Soft tissue sarcoma of maxillary sinus

Formula 1

Composition: Radix Astragali 25g，Radix Angelicae Sinensis、Semen Persicae、Rhizoma Chuanxiong、Radix Paeoniae Rubra、Allolobophora caliginosa trapezoides、Rhizoma Coptidis 10g each，Flos Carthami、radix scutellariae 6g each, Hedyotic diffusa 15g .

Curative effect: as was reported, 5 cases of soft tissue sarcoma of maxillary sinus were treated in the way of combining the TCM with the Western Medicine (WM), after 3-6 courses, the surviving number of 1 year, 3 years and 5 years are 4, 2, and 1 respectively (note that there was inconsistency in the report of the numbers).

9. benign tumor of thyroid

Formula 1

Composition: Radix Paeoniae Rubra、Radix Angelicae Sinensis、radix bupleuri、Radix Curcumae、Rhizoma Cyperi preparata、Rhizoma Curcumae 12g each，Thallus Laminariae、 Sargassum、 pumice、raw Concha Ostreae（decocted beforehand）30g each，Squama Manitis fried with honey 15g，Radix Glycytthizae fried with honey 5g.

Curative effect: the above formulation was used to treat 123 cases of benign thyroid tumor, after 1-2 courses, 55 patients were cured, 56 got obvious improvement, 12 failed, and the total effective rate reached 90%. During the treatment, no adverse reaction was observed.

Formula 2

Composition: Xiaosanping II (composed of Squama Manitis、Rhizoma Chuanxiong、Hirudo、Semen Litchi、Flos Rosae Rugosas 20g each，Concha Ostreae、Sargassum 40g each，Poria 30g)

Note：the treated group including 185 cases, using Xiaosanping II 6g (grind the above mixture into fine powder and riddle it through a sieve of 80 holes 80 mesh. Researched and developed by Women and Children Health Care Hospital in the city of Laizhou, Shandong province); the control group including 113 cases , using thyroxine 80mg, Vit E 100mg; both groups took the drug three times a day, 15 days was set as one course.

Curative effect: 6 courses after the above treatment 91 vs 31 cases got cured ; 63 vs 19 got obvious improvement; 31 vs 53 failed as in the treated group and control group respectively.

Formula 3

Composition: Carapax Trionycis、Squama Manitis、Poria（代）、Semen Persicae、trichosanthis 20g each，Bulbus Fritillariae Thunbergii、Sargassum、Concha Ostreae 30g each，Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae 15g.

Curative effect: as is reported, Liuchen used the method of dispersing phlegm, softening hard mass, eliminating stagnant blood and removing stasis to treat benign thyroid tumor. After 2 months, 6 cases were cured, 22 got obvious improvement, 20 achieved certain effect while 12 failed, and the total effective rate reaches 80%.

10. thyroid adenoma

Formula 1

Composition: Sargassum、Thallus Laminariae、raw Concha Ostreae 20g each，pumice、airpotato yam、Spica Prunellae、Radix Angelicae Sinensis 15g each，Squama Manitis、Fructus Aurantii、magnolia bark、Rhizoma Sparganii、Rhizoma Curcumae 10g each， Radix Aucklandiae 6g each.

Curative effect: 58 cases of thyroid adenoma are treated by this method, among which, 45 got cured, 9 achieved improvements while 4 failed, and the total effective rate reached 93%.

Formula 2

Composition: pancrea of pig 30g (drying by baking, then powder of Concha Ostreae was added, divided into 2 portions and taken with water separately), Tulipa edulis、semen ziziphi spinosae、semiaquilegiae radix、Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae、Rhizoma Cyperi、Fructus Crataegi、raw corium stomachium galli 15g each，Cortex Albiziae 12g, sixangular dysosma rhizome 5g, Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparata10g, Herba Menthae 6g.

Curative effect: 46 cases of thyroid adenoma (including 28 of simplex adenoma and 18 of cystic adenoma) are treated by this method, among which, 29 cases were cured, 9 got obvious improvement, 6 achieved certain effect while 2 failed, and the total effective rate reaches 96%. This drug has an advantage in treating simplex adenoma over cystic adenoma (p<0.01).

Formula 3

Composition: Spica Prunellae 20g，Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae、tendrilleaf fritillary bulb、Poria、Rhizoma Pinelliae、Raidix Scrophulariae、Sargassum、Thallus Laminariae、raw Concha Ostreae 10g each.

Curative effect: TCM and WM together treated 41 cases of thyroid adenoma, tumor disappeared in 31cases , reduced in size in 6 cases, while 4 failed , the total effective rate reached 90%; 2 patients got recurrence, the recurrent rate was 5%.

Formula 4

Composition: radix bupleuri、Rhizoma Chuanxiong、Radix Angelicae Sinensis、Fructus Akebiae 10g each，Bulbus Fritillariae Thunbergii、semiaquilegiae,radix、Rhizoma Curcumae 15g each，Spica Prunellae、raw Concha Ostreae 30g each，Squama Manitis、Sargassum、Thallus Laminariae 20g each，Radix Glycyrrhizae preparata 5g.

Curative effect: the above drug was used to treat 68 cases of thyroid adenoma, after 1-3 courses, 58 cases were cured, 3 got obvious improvement, 2 achieved certain effect while 5 failed, and the total effective rate reached 93%. During the treatment, no adverse reaction was observed. During the treatment, no adverse reaction was observed.

Formula 5

Composition: Squama Manitis、Rhizoma Paridis、Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparata、Herba Scutellariae Darbatae、Radix Platycodi、Bulbus Fritillariae Thunbergii、airpotato yam、Tulipa edulis、Spica Prunellae 10g each, Sargassum、Thallus Laminariae、Semen Vaccariae 12g each，Concha Ostreae 20g.

Curative effect: the above drug was used to treat 48 cases of thyroid adenoma, after 1-3 courses, 37 cases were cured, 9 achieved certain effect while 2 failed, and the total effective rate reaches 96%. During the treatment, no adverse reaction was observed.

11. thyroid cyst

Formula 1

Composition: Flos Chrysanthemi Indici、Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae、airpotato yam 50g each.

Curative effect: 102 cases of thyroid cyst were treated in this way , after 1-2 courses, 92 cases were cured, 6 achieved certain effect while 4 failed, and the total effective rate reaches 96%.

Formula 2

Composition: Cortex Phellodendri、Radix Salviae Miltiorrhiae、Spica Prunellae、Bulbus Fritillariae Thunbergii 15g each，Radix Ranunculi Ternati、Herba Houttuyniae、Concha Ostreae 20g each, Rhizoma Curcumae\Rhizoma Sparganii 12g each, Radix Glycytthizae 20g.

Curative effect: 138 cases of thyroid cyst were treated with the above drug, 112 cases were cured, 23 achieved obvious effect while 3 failed, and the total effective rate reaches 99.8%. a follow-up of 3 years showed only 1 recurrence.

Formula 3

Composition: Neixiaolianqiao pellet.

Note：treated group included 37 cases, using the Neixiaolianqiao pellet (composed of Radix Astragali、Fructus Forsythiae、Spica Prunellae、radix trichosanthis、Rhizoma Belamcandae、Radix Rhapontici、Herba Lycopi、Radix Adenophorae、Semen Persicae. Each sack is 6g. researched and developed by TCM Hospital in Beijing), 1 sack at one time,, tid, oral taking. The control group including 36 cases, treated with Euthyrox （Levothyroxine Sodium）50μg，taken at a draught per day. Both set 8 weeks as a course.

Curative effect: treating nodular goiter in the ways described above, in the treated group, 3 cases were cured, 13 got obvious improvement, 15 achieved certain effect while 6 failed, and the total effective rate reaches 83.8%; compared with that in the control group, 1 cases were cured, 5 got obvious improvement, 16 achieved certain effect while 14 failed, and the total effective rate reaches 61.1%. Significant differences are there in maximum diameter, mass of thyroid before and after treatment in each group separately and between the two groups after the treatments (P<0/05).

12. thyroid carcinoma

Formula 1

Composition: Xiayu integrated agent (composed of Semen Persicae、Radix Salviae Miltiorrhiae、Semen Vaccariae、Eupolyphaga Seu Steleophaga)

Curative effect: 51 cases were reported to treat malignant tumor (including thyroid carcinoma, breast cancer, gastric adenoma, esophagus carcinoma, rectum carcinoma, colon carcinoma, nasopharynx carcinoma, lung adenoma, lymph sarcoma, cerebellomyeloblastoma, hepatic duct carcinoma, squamous carcinoma of bladder) with Xiayu integrated agent. The relief rate of 9 index of stagnant blood symptom is 11%-50%; there was an obvious reduction of vitro thrombi in length, wet weight and dry weight after the treatment (P<0.01, P<0.05).

Formula 2

Composition: Recipe 1: Radix CodonopsisRadix Astragali 30g each，Radix Rehmanniae preparata、Poria、Spica Prunellae 20g each，Radix Angelicae Sinensis、Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae、Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride、Radix Curcumae 15g each，Radix Glycytthizae 6g each; Recipe 2: Radix Curcumae、Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride、raw Radix Rehmanniae、ecliptae herba、Fructus Ligustri Lucidi、Raidix Scrophulariae、Raidix Ophiopogonis 15g each，Fructus Schisandrae 10g，Rhizoma Polygonati、Spica Prunellae 20g each，Rhizoma Sparganii 10g.

Note：Regular operation. Recipe 1 applies to those who have the qi-blood dual insufficiency after operations; recipe 2 is suitable for those who are heart-kidney yin deficient and have toxin remains. Combine with drug fluid after water decocted for 3 times, taken in the morning, at noon and in the evening separately. One dose per day, 3 months is set as one course. Meanwhile thyroxine tablets 40-80mg per day for oral taking. 6 cases accepted radiotherapy.

Curative effect: as was reported , treating thyroid carcinoma 45 cases with the method of TCM &WM, all got cured , among which , 26 cases after a follow-up of more than 3 years still survive.

Formula 3

Composition: ginseng tablet

Note：ginseng tablet (each contain enhancing factor 10mg for protein synthesis ) for oral taking, 4-6 tablets per day for continually 3-6 months and then 2-4 tablets as the maintenance dose per day.

Curative effect: someone had used ginseng tablet treating 101 cases of cancer (including thyroid carcinoma, gastric carcinoma, pancreatic carcinoma, breast carcinoma, carcinoma of large intestines and sarcoma etc.) as a result, among the 43 cases who took the tablets for at least 3 months continually, 30 were effective while 13 failed, total effective rate was 69.8%. Among the 28 cases of gastric carcinoma, 23 showed effect while 5 failed; in the 7 cases of large intestine carcinoma, 5 improved while 2 failed. When combined ginseng tablet with other anti-cancer drugs, leucocytopenia was hardly seen.
